1. Take it slowly
It takes time to get to know someone and there is no rush if you aren't ready to meet or take it further. Don't ever feel pressured.
2. Ask questions
Don't be shy! If something is important to you then ask. Make sure you are on the 'same page' and are really looking for the same kind of relationship before you meet.
3. Stay anonymous until you build trust
This is a totally anonymous site as long as you don't give out personal information to anyone including your real name, email address, Facebook details, home address, workplace, phone number etc. We advise you to stay communicating only on Oasis.co.uk until you are 100% confident that the member you are talking to is genuine. By giving a member your personal details, they can potentially find a lot of other information about you.
4. Speak on the phone
When you are comfortable then it can be a very rewarding experience to talk with each other on the phone. If you don't want to give out your number then ask for theirs and hide your number when you call. (Check with your phone provider on how you can do this)
5. Be cautious when meeting in person
Choose a safe place, such as a coffee shop during a busy time. Be sure to tell a friend where you're going and what time you plan to return. Give your friend the person's name and phone number.
Also, be careful with alcohol: it affects your judgement, slows your reflexes and can cause a loss of inhibitions. So use your common sense and try to limit or even avoid alcohol, especially on a first date. And if you do choose to drink, pace yourself and be sure to keep your drink in sight at all times.
6. Stay alert for scams
You may get propositioned to view a member on their webcam by visiting another internet webcam site which will charge you money. Never pay for this, as it is a simple scam and you will certainly never see the member's real webcam. Oasis.co.uk does not offer webcam services.
You should also stay alert for other scams including premium SMS scams, any kind of commercial activity, sales scheme, or anything else you find suspicious.
7. Never send money
It is extremely difficult to verify the authenticity of a person on the internet, or that their story is real - even if they have 'proof'. So we advise you never send money or gifts. We have had several reports of members sending money and then never hearing from the person again.
If you are suspicious about any members on Oasis.co.uk then report them by clicking on the Report Member icon/menu option on their profile.
